The "Racing For Clean Air" Team Captain Andy Santerre
Claims Another Top Ten Finish To Widen Points Lead

HOLLAND, N.Y. - Joey McCarthy won his first NASCAR Grand National Division, Busch North Series race in Saturday night's Sunoco 150 at Holland International Speedway. McCarthy started eleventh and relentlessly moved forward on the inside of the high-banked track until he passed Kelly Moore for the lead on the 110th lap.

Moore held on for second in a heated battle over the closing laps with Matt Kobyluck. Mike Olsen was fourth and McCarthy's teammate, Tim Andrews, fifth. Mike Johnson, Dale Quarterley, point leader Andy Santerre, Eddie MacDonald, and Carey Heath completed the top ten.

Mike Stefanik won the Bud Pole and led the first 28 laps but faded to 17th at the finish. Ryan Moore, second in points entering the event, appeared on his way to challenging his father Kelly Moore for victory at mid-race, but a cut right-front tire and a long stay on pit road left him 20th. The net result was to stretch Santerre's point lead to 112 over McCarthy, who moved from sixth to second in the standings.

McCarthy's TrustCompany Bank Chevrolet averaged a quick 72.115 miles per hour as the race was slowed only four times for 21 laps. His margin of victory was .41 seconds as 17 cars were on the lead lap at the checker. The winner was also the PowerAde Power Move of the Race Award recipient, while Andrews was the Raybestos Rookie-of-the-Race.

The Busch North Series takes the Independence Day weekend off, resuming at Thompson (Conn.) International Speedway in Saturday, July 12.
