The "Racing For Clean Air" Team Captain Andy Santerre
Wins Third Busch North Series Race of 2004 at Holland

HOLLAND, N.Y. – Defending NASCAR Grand National Division, Busch North Series champion Andy Santerre scored his third victory of the 2004 season Saturday night in the Sunoco 150 at Holland International Speedway, with his nearest challenger for the title, Mike Olsen, finishing second. The result boosted Santerre’s lead in quest of his third straight title to 39 points.

The father-son team of Kelly Moore and Ryan Moore were third and fourth, with Tim Andrews completing the top five. Matt Kobyluck, Joey McCarthy, Busch Pole winner Dave Dion, Jamie Aube, and Paul Wolfe were sixth through tenth as 14 cars finished on the lead lap and all 24 starters were running at the finish. Santerre averaged 62.474 miles per hour to win by just under half a second as the event was extended to 156 laps to achieve a green flag finish. Six caution flags were displayed for 46 laps and the lead changed hands twice among three drivers.

Olsen led the first 14 circuits before giving way to Mike Johnson. The middle stages belonged to Johnson as Santerre worked his way forward from eleventh starting spot. On lap 100 Santerre made his move for the lead and the two cars made side-to-side

contact on the back straight, with Johnson spinning and glancing off the outer wall. He continued on the lead lap under caution, but the front end damage eventually cost him 11 laps in the pits for a 23rd place finish.

Dion captured his third Busch Pole of the year; ironically, in the same three races Santerre has won. Santerre’s run from 11th to the win earned him the PowerAde Power Move of the Race Award, and McCarthy picked up the Featherlite Most Improved Driver Award. Ryan Seaman was the leading Auto Meter Rookie of the Year candidate.

The Busch North Series takes the Independence Day weekend off before resuming on Saturday, July 10, with the Local Dodge Dealers 150 at Lake Erie Speedway in North East, Pa.
